We typically tune into E!’s coverage of awards show red carpets to get a peek at celebs looking their best, mainly for inspo-worthy moments we can recreate (office holiday party, anyone?!). But recently a new, inspiring trend has been popping up during those Q+A sessions on the step and repeats, ushering in better interviews — and we’re all about it.
At Sunday’s Emmys, Amy Poehler’s organization Smart Girls took to Twitter and the red carpet to do what Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic have kinda failed to kickstart — asking actresses (and actors) deeper questions than simply, “Who are you wearing tonight?”
Similar to the AskHerMore campaign, which encouraged better interview questions at this year’s Oscars, Golden Globes, etc., the #SmartGirlsAsk Twitter hashtag was a crowd-sourced Q+A session on the red carpet that encouraged Twitter users to tweet Qs at Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls account that go beyond their outfits for all of our fave TV actors and actresses to respond to in real time via Twitter videos. Check out the best of the bunch below, then watch all the responses on the Smart Girls Twitter feed.
