How to Make Easy Geometric Card Holders

We’ve dreamed up unconventional colorful wedding dresses, watercolor invitations and wedding cakes decorated with flowers. So what’s next in the world of DIY wedding ideas? Just the perfect final touch — DIY geometric card holders. Make these to display signs, photos or place cards, then give them to your guests as a sweet wedding favor. So if you’re ready to catch the DIY wedding train, follow the instructions below. Bonus — you could totally use these around the house or at your next dinner party.

Materials:

— air-hardening modeling clay

— parchment paper

— masking tape

— acrylic paint (we used 2 colors)

Tools:

— knife

— paint brush

Instructions:

1. First, lay a piece of parchment paper down to protect your work surface.

2. Cut a 1-inch slice of clay, then cut it into your desired shape. Use your hands to smooth the surface.

3. Make a small slit into the top of your shape with a knife. This will hold the place card or sign. Let dry.

4. Once your shape is completely dry, place tape over any area that you want to leave white. Paint with the lightest acrylic paint, then let dry.

5. Take off the used tape and put a fresh piece of tape at another angle. Paint over the exposed area with the darker paint, then let dry again. That’s it!

Next, place tape over most of the front surface. Paint with the lightest acrylic paint, then let dry. Take off the used tape and put a fresh piece of tape at another angle. Paint over the exposed area with the darker paint, then let dry again. That’s it!

How sweet would these look displaying photos of each guest? We love how quick and simple this DIY is.
