Fans assumed without a doubt that Katy Perry’s new song “Swish Swish” was a complete Taylor Swift diss and clearly intended to throw a whole lotta shade at the singer’s industry rival. And while Perry didn’t seem to be in the mood to deny the grudge-fueling buzz, now she’s finally spilled ALL of the deets about her infamous feud with Taylor Swift. And, yep, it’s as intense as you’d expect.
It was James Cordon who managed to get Perry to finally fully open up about the fiery situation during his stellar Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special. Though, according to the 32-year-old singer, she’s not the one to blame. “Honestly, it’s really like she started it and it’s time for her to finish it.” Boom? Boom.
Perry claims that she tried to take the initative, saying, “I tried to talk to her about it and she wouldn’t speak to me… I do the right thing any time that it feels like a fumble.” However, she also feels like her efforts were ignored, adding, “It was a full shutdown and then she writes a song [“Bad Blood”] about me, and I’m like, okay, cool, cool, cool, that’s how you want to deal with it? Karma!”
Cordon, for his part, wants to personally mend the rift (or rather, “take this beef off of the grill”) and Perry is into it, reminding him that she wants to see “women together, not divided, and like none of this petty bullsh*t. Women together will heal the world.”
We totally agree. We’re definitely stronger together.
