OMG: Taylor Swift Performed Ex Calvin Harris’s Chart-Topping Hit at Last Night’s Concert
Though it seems as if Taylor Swift hasn’t been out of the spotlight for a single day thanks to all the headlines she’s made this year with her personal life (you might recall breakups with both Calvin Harris AND Tom Hiddleston, as well as one EPIC and seemingly never-ending celebrity feud with Kanye West), she hasn’t ACTUALLY performed at an official concert all year — until last night, that is.
On the heels of a visit with new BFF Blake Lively and birthday boy Ryan Reynolds and rumors of a new album release, Taylor performed at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Austin, Texas to her legions of fans, and those lucky enough to be in the audience were in for a special treat.
While Tay didn’t drop any “Lemonade”-style secret albums, as many suspected she might, she DID surprise her audience with her setlist selection. Or, at least, with one song in particular
Though she’s taken ownership of Calvin Harris’s “This Is What You Came For,” which she co-wrote when she and Calvin were together, lip synching it at pal Gigi Hadid’s Tommy Hilfiger show, she had never performed it live before last night.
It was a special moment for her, as she told the crowd prior to launching into her rendition. “As a songwriter, the most rewarding feeling in the world is writing something and then having a crowd sing it back to you,” she began. “It’s the coolest thing in the world. And I’ve never performed this song live before, but you know it. Maybe you could sing along, and then I could get to know what that feels like to hear it sung back to me.”
The crowd was more than happy to oblige, as you can see from @p.erfectstorm’s Insta vid below.
We’re definitely digging Taylor’s rendition, and considering the fact that these two are on friendly terms again, we’re guessing Calvin is, as well. Here’s to hoping for more hits from these two in the future!
