Homemade Pasta + Baked Tomato Sauce

  • dried fusilly (corkscrew) or farfalline (butterfly) pasta ( 1 pound )
  • loosely packed fresh basil leaves, torn ( 1/4 cup )
  • extra-virgin olive oil ( 3 to 4 tablespoons )
  • garlic cloves, finely chopped ( 2 )
  • freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese ( 1/4 cup )
  • freshly grated pecorino cheese ( 2 tablespoons )
  • freshly ground pepper
  • plain dry bread crumbs ( 1/3 cup )
