The effervescent and stunning Tess Holliday first came into the spotlight when she made headlines by becoming the first 5’5″ size 22 model to land a major modeling contract. She also coined the hashtag #effyourbeautystandards, which, in this changing climate of plus-size fashion and inclusivity, is a more powerful of a message than ever. The model decided to plaster her motto on a tee shirt which she debuted at the Curve Festival in the UK. The slogan tees were designed by her husband, Nick Holliday.
And now, the model plans on adding designer to her resume. Man, this girl is unstoppable! Tess revealed in an interview with the Huffington Post that she has plans to expand her body positive line next year and she is currently entrenched in designing “I’m in the process of coming out with my own collection. I’m designing it now and it will launch next year,” she reveals. Of the whole design process, the model says, “It’s been really exciting, but stressful.”
The plus-size model posted this photo from the Curve Festival showing off her #effyourbeautystandards T-shirts on her Instagram. So chic and so true. Um, we’ll take 10.
Fellow plus-size model and blogger Nicolette Mason, who helped launch Target’s plus-size line Ava & Viv, posted this video of the tees making their way down the runway in support of her friend. Given the positive reaction people have already had to her tees, we’re certain that her plus-size clothing line is going to blow us away. Tess also revealed in her interview that she plans on dropping a jewelry line in October.
