As the holidays approach, we are thinking a lot about all of the creative projects we can work on to customize our homes, gifts, dinner parties and wardrobes, and we’ve got loads of ideas to share. Among them is a twist on one of our favorite holiday wardrobe essentials: the ugly sweater. This trend has become a winning theme at parties and is a perfect conversation starter, because where did you get that sweater with a unicorn wearing a mini santa hat on its horn? It’s incredible.
We are so into this fad that we’ve decided to share the love with other articles of clothing. Introducing the ugly sweater onesie FOR ADULTS. Though calling it adorable and ugly in the same sentence seems wrong, it’s actually so very right. Keep reading for the full tutorial.
Materials and Tools:
– plain red onesie
– holiday patches
– trim and ribbon
– hot glue gun
Let’s do this thing.
Start by laying out your patches, ribbon and trim to create a design you like. Then adhere your patches to the onesie with hot glue.
Add trim to the pockets and along the zipper. Glue some ribbon around the collar to make it even more over the top. And don’t forget the legs — they need patches too!
For a final touch, add ribbon and bows to the ankles. You really can’t go overboard when it comes to the ugly sweater look.
These patches are on point. Ugly Sweater Onesie — we love you for all of your ugliness and comfiness.
What’s better than one ugly onesie, you ask? Ugly onesies for your whole #squad! Family portrait, anyone?
Holiday time has never looked so good.
