A New Royal Baby Has Arrived! Princess Madeleine of Sweden Welcomes Baby #3
While the British royal family awaits the arrival of Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton’s third child sometime in April 2018, the Swedish royals have announced some exciting baby news of their own! Princess Madeleine and her husband, Chris O’Neill, welcomed baby number three early Friday morning in Stockholm.
The Swedish Royal Court announced the arrival of the new baby girl on March 9. She is said to be “a healthy child,” weighing 7.6 pounds, and both she and Princess Madeleine are doing well.
“We are delighted with the new addition to our family,” O’Neill said in the statement. The newest little royal joins older sister Princess Leonore, four, and brother, Prince Nicolas, two. “Leonore and Nicolas have their long-awaited sibling,” O’Neill continued. “They can’t wait to meet their new baby sister.” The little girl’s name is expected to be announced on Monday.
The family shared a sweet snap of their new daughter shortly after her arrival. Taken by O’Neill, the picture shows the little one sound asleep while wearing an adorable pink sweater with a ruffled white collar, along with knit white pants and attached booties.
According to Royal Central correspondent Laura Dekkers, O’Neill told reporters that the new arrival looked just like her older brother Nicolas did when he was born. He also expressed his gratitude for the interest in the family’s addition. “Thank you so much for coming out, I really appreciate it,” he said. “I also wanted to say thank you on behalf of Madeleine. Take care.”
