Acura Lets You Customize Your Car from Twitter
Because everyone loves a little customization, Acura (yep, the car company) has rolled out a new marketing campaign for the 2015 Acura TLX that lets us do just that — customize a car. We know, it’s a pretty standard thing to allow users to play around with interior and exterior colors online, but with this new twist, you can do it all right from Twitter.
All you have to do is have a look at Acura’s recent tweet and click away. First, choose a model, then select a steer type and an exterior color. Once you customize your 2015 Acura TLX, you can tweet it out to your followers.
We’ve seen brands use social media to push forward their campaigns before — like it or not, advertising probably takes up half of your newsfeeds. But it’s cool that Acura is integrating itself within a platform. Everyone loves to customize (it’s practically a shortcut to DIYing) and share their finds on social media, so it makes sense. Amazon has tested out shopping straight from Twitter and Facebook lets you buy right from your feed, why not use hashtags where a drop down size or color menu would be?
So what could be next? Well, we wouldn’t mind it if a favorite makeup brand let us test lipstick shades on a selfie or a home improvement store let us use Pinterest to see what paint colors look good on our bedroom walls.
