Alexander Wang Wants His New Adidas Collection “to Feel DIY”
When Alexander Wang collaborated with Adidas the first time, he decided to sell the collection out of the unmarked vans that he used as pop-up shops. Talk about unconventional retailing and genius marketing! The designer is teaming up with the sportswear brand again, and you know it’s going to be really good.
However, his vision for the new collection is that it will feel “DIY.” Oh, famous fashion designers. They’re just like us. They love to DIY too! And he really wants to shake it up this time, whatever that means. “We turned the famous Adidas trefoil upside down,” Alexander said. “It’s symbolic. Starting over and tearing things up are always the most inspiring moments for me.”
The Spring 2017 collection will feature 84 pieces, including fun color ways straight from the athletic brand’s archives — the firebird blue, the Stan Smith green and the soccer-jersey orange — plus a new sneaker that will be anything but conventional.
The line is expected to be priced between $80 and $450, so there is certainly something to be had by everyone.
