April the Giraffe Might Be Pregnant Again!
Remember earlier this year, when April the Giraffe was about to give birth and it seemed like the entire internet was watching via livestream to see the moment she welcomed her long-necked little one into the world? Well, it may be time for another livestream soon, as news has started buzzing that the famed Harpursville, New York-based giraffe might be pregnant again.
Turning up for a long-distance appearance on Good Morning America this week, along with April and her calf, Tajiri, Animal Adventure Park owner Jordan Patch said he could not “confirm nor deny the possibility of another pregnancy.” While that’s certainly not a definitive answer, the fact that he didn’t fully rule out the possibility has certainly given people hope that another baby giraffe is on the way.
Tajiri (which is a Swahili name meaning “hope” and “confidence”) is now six months old and, according to Patch, “[he’s] already approaching about 10 feet in height.” His caretaker also revealed that his progress in growth has been remarkably easy and textbook, which has been a blessing.”

As for his mom, April is apparently an “amazing mother” to her son and is “obviously very in tune to him and protective of him, but she’s also allowing him to take on that independent trait that he has, which definitely comes from his father.” You remember papa Oliver, don’t you? Fans were absolutely enamored with the first-time expectant dad as he paced around his pen during the first pregnancy.
We may have to wait a little while longer before we find out if April is indeed expecting another baby, but we’re certainly happy to hear that she and Tajiri are doing so well.
As for whether we’ll be seeing another giraffe birth via livestream, Patch stated simply, “World, you tell me!”
