With a new year here, it’s time for a refresh — let’s start with your phones and the best apps of the week to help usher in 2016. This week we’ve got Microsoft’s selfie app, a social media app that will connect you with the person right beside you (hey, hottie on the subway), a music video app to flex your rockstar muscles and also an app for Apple Pay lovers to track down retailers who use your fave method of payment (including these awesome stores). Check it all out below!

1. Nawkr: Nawkr is the social media app that wants to help you broaden you network by including the people in your vicinity. You can set the distance within which you want to browse other people’s profiles, then just “nawk” to connect with someone else.

DL It: Free on iOS

2. Triller: Record your own music videos with your friends and share them with the world. Triller allows you to do different takes, add a filter and throw in a soundtrack so that you can literally be a rockstar. Might we suggest a remake of “Hotline Bling?”

DL It: Free on iOS and Android

3. Microsoft Selfie: Microsoft wants you to take more selfies — and that sounds good to us! But rather than having you mess with a lot of dials, it’ll take into account your age, gender and other variables to come up with its best version of photo enhancement. Don’t worry — there are still filters!

4. Pay Finders: Here is the app every Apple Pay lover MUST GET IMMEDIATELY. Apple Pay adopters know how convenient and streamlined Apple’s payment process can be, but the problem is not all retailers have it enabled in store. Pay Finders is a crowd-sourcing app that allows you to find + add places that do use Apple Pay.

5. Baby Story: This app is a must-download for new mommies and mommies-to-be. It helps you create a beautiful digital scrapbook complete with graphics and pretty designs to help commemorate your pregnancy + your child’s early milestones. The best part is you can access those memories right on your iPhone.

DL It: $0.99 on iOS
