Carson Daly Honors His Mother in an Emotional First Statement After Her Death
While much of the television industry was in a celebratory mood for the 2017 Emmys this weekend, Carson Daly was sadly suffering a tragic loss. His mother, Pattie Daly Caruso, died suddenly on Sunday at the age of 73. He paid tribute to her in a moving statement on Monday.
“Kiki, as she was known to her grandchildren and many others, touched so many lives with her kindness, her giant spirit and her love life,” Daly’s statement read. “She will be terribly missed by her family and the world, but her spark will shine for eternity.”
The television personality also took to his personal Twitter account to thank fans for the support he has received since the news broke. “There are no words for the loss of mom,” the Today show host wrote in an emotional tweet. “Thank u for the incredible outpouring of love. It helps.”
Daly went on to give heartfelt thanks to a fan who offered comfort and said they were marking one year without their own mother. He concluded his original tweet with a moving and important reminder: “Please hug the ones you love most tonight.”
