Taylor Swift Got the Best Birthday Present Ever Yesterday
We’ve heard of fan fiction, but CROWDSOURCED books are definitely a new concept for us. Yet, that’s exactly what publisher Simon & Schuster has announced for its latest celeb book project, with someone you’ve likely been listening to in 2015.
That’s right: They’re creating a crowdsourced Taylor Swift book.
The publisher will be releasing a 10-year retrospective of Taylor Swift‘s career, which they envision will resemble “a very elaborate mash note.” While the book will be partly made up of official magazine profiles of Taylor Swift, Simon & Schuster is also calling out for original fan art, photos and ideas “to help create and publish a beautifully illustrated scrapbook that contains the best of all things Swift.”
Plus, Simon & Schuster plans to hold a contest that will allow fans to name it. The idea is to allow “one super-Swiftie” to be the book’s “honorary author,” with his or her name appearing on the book’s jacket. In addition to all the Swift-fan glory, that winner will also receive a $10,000 prize. Another contest will determine who gets the privilege of designing the book’s cover. It’s a uniquely interactive approach to book publishing that we’re definitely curious to see more of in the future.
The book is set to come out on October 24, 2016 — the 10th anniversary of Swift’s first album.
