Disney’s “Fairy Tale Weddings” Will Return to Freeform As a Series
Some things just *go* together. Peanut butter and jelly, for instance. Pumpkin spice and Halloween. Weddings and Disney. The latter is such a match made in heaven, in fact, that earlier this April, the park introduced its own “Fairy Tale Weddings” plan — an all-encompassing ceremonial package that sees the bride pulling up in Cinderella’s carriage, trumpeteers announcing her arrival, and royal coachmen at her side. There’s one pretty big catch, however — it starts at $75,000 for 100 guests. Yowza! If you can’t afford the hefty price tag, no matter: You can still experience all the magic from the comfort of your very own couch. That’s because Freeform is introducing a Fairy Tale Weddings docuseries to woo you with all its happily ever afters.
The show is reminiscent of the one-time special the network aired back in May. Hosted by Bachelor Nation alums Lauren Bushnell and Ben Higgins (pre-split), the special attracted nearly three million viewers. With such an enthusiastic response, it’s no wonder that even more love-filled episodes are now on the way.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this new seven-part series will give fans an up-close and personal glimpse at extravagant real-life weddings (and a few proposals) at Disney resorts and destinations. From a holiday proposal at Disney’s Aulani Hawaii resort to a winter wonderland ceremony at Walt Disney World in Florida, you’ll be seeing all your dreams lived out on screen, complete with fireworks, castles, and RL magic.
But the “I do” is just the tip of the iceberg. Each hour-long episode of the reality romance show will take viewers along for the ride as couples prep for their enchanting walk down the aisle.
“We are creating one of the most beautiful shows in the world with Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings and Disney Parks and Resorts, where they make couples’ dreams come true,” producer Ann Lewis Roberts told THR. She added that they’re excited to make “a couple’s fantasy into a reality by transforming their wedding into an event more magical and spectacular than they could have ever imagined.”
Considering that Bushnell and Higgins have split, another happy couple will have to step in to be our wedding guides, but we’re sure fans will still be excited to watch come spring: We certainly are!
