3 Awesome Celeb-Approved Looks You Can Totally DIY for Cheap

It’s easy to have a complicated relationship with celebrity style — it’s a great place from which to get inspiration, and it’s awesome seeing our favorite gals like Kendall and Gigi express themselves through fashion, but it can also be shocking how much their clothes can cost. (Hello, $1,800 sunglasses!) With a little creativity and #girlboss ingenuity, you can copy some of your favorite celebrity looks without breaking the bank.

1. Miranda Kerr: First up is this newly engaged beauty, who is currently stunning on fashion magazine covers, including this one she recently shot for Elle Brasil and posted to her Instagram. In it, she wears a gorgeous yet frightfully expensive Miu Miu embellished denim shirt.

To snag her style, put your creativity to good use and iron on some rhinestone and pearl appliques to a shirt like this French Connection Koh Patchwork Denim Shirt ($98). You can take it a step further like Miranda’s and add a retro name patch for a surprising, customized touch.

2. Rita Ora: The host of the new America’s Next Top Model is known for having fun with her fashion. While the bikini she’s wearing from Italian brand Tenzenis isn’t expensive, it’s actually not even available in the US. (FYI, Rita fronts the brand.)

To copy this look, just grab some pop art style patches from the SimplePatchesShop on Etsy — as many as you want — and add them to a white bikini such as this Bond Eye Mesh Halter Bikini ($111). The sporty halter style gives you plenty of surface area to create a masterpiece.

3. Keke Palmer: She’s a rising style star, and it’s not really a surprise: Keke’s constantly pushing the fashion limits and experimenting with her style. She should feel good about this casual look, though, where she’s paired a throwback tee with cropped, wide leg jeans painted with flames.

Work on this look on a rainy Saturday afternoon at home by taking a pair of cropped jeans, like these Topshop MOTO Cropped Wide Leg Jeans ($75), and drawing on flames with the fabric markers of your choice. You could also do something nostalgic like hearts and stars, but Keke’s choice is sending a message: She’s on fire!
