This Is the Coloring Book Every Adult Is Going to Want
Coloring books have officially taken over as the most popular adult pastime. Okay, maybe not officially, but they’ve definitely made a big change in how we spend our evenings. First came the super delicate drawings from Johanna Basford, then came the hilarious illustrations that mocked grown-up life and now it looks as though there’s a new coloring book we’re picking up our markers for.
Ijeoma Oluo, a Seattle-based feminist writer, speaker and illustrator has created a Kickstarter campaign for a “Badass Feminist Coloring Book.” In the book you’ll find her drawings of female comedians, mothers, daughters, sex workers and writers, with inspiring quotes written alongside them. Currently, Ijeoma plans to include 20 drawings, but says that if the funding is there, more may be included. And based on what’s she’s raised so far, we’re going to say that the funding is there.
Ijeoma’s campaign still has four days to go and has already quadrupled its goal. If you’re looking to snag a copy ASAP, donate $25 to this campaign to get yours delivered next month. Also, if you’re looking to give this to your little one you can request to be sent a kid-friendly version. But kid-friendly or not, one thing is for sure: this book is going to come jam-packed with some serious girl power.
