Inspired by themes including “Downtown Chic,” “Beach Boho,” and “Hollywood Glam,” emerging designers created wardrobes for the modern day, style-conscious Disney heroine. Basically, if Anna and Elsa were street-style stars, this is what they would wear.
In a Project Runway style design-off, six students’ creations were presented to a judges’ panel that included Otis fashion design staff, Disney creative execs, and Amanda Curtis, CEO and co-founder of indie designer platform Nineteenth Amendment. At stake was a chance to sell pieces directly to consumers through the online destination, which was created for rising talent to pre-sell their collections and have them quickly made to order in the US — without having to hold expensive inventory. It’s basically an emerging designer’s dream come true. And if any company knows the dream-fulfilling business, it’s Disney.
Want to check out the designers and the process? You can watch it all unfold here. If you’re ready to get your modern princess on, you’re in luck. The winning designs are being unveiled today, live from the D23 Expo (Disney’s version of Comic-Con), after which you’ll be able to scoop up all the Frozen-inspired fashion your heart desires from Nineteenth Amendment. You’ll never want to, you know… let it go. (Sorry.)
