Home Is Where the Art Is: 4 Simple Ways to Make Spray Paint Wall Art

We’ve dabbled in our fair share of wall art here at Brit + Co. From shoeboxes to tulle to the love-liest chalkboard clock around, we’re always looking for the next good hack on decorating our space. Today’s collection of wall art is part of our DIY Basics series and each piece takes less than 10 minutes to make. Win!

Supplies:

– canvas

– gold spray paint

– 3 colors of spray paint

– string

– painter’s tape

– chevron stencil (printable here)

– lace washi tape

We used new canvases for this project but you could also definitely use old ones that you want to cover up.

First thing to do is spray paint each of your canvases gold. If they weren’t blank to begin with, you might need to do 2 coats. You always want to spray paint outside or in a really well-ventilated space.

1. Ombre String Pattern

For this first piece, we wrapped string around a canvas to create a pattern. Simply wrap and tape on the back of the canvas to keep string in place.

Spray in an ombre pattern if you’re as ombre-obsessed as we are.

Unwrap! How pretty does that string look? We love how the pattern fades in and out throughout the piece.

2. Gold Sunburst

Take your painter’s tape and start in one corner of the canvas. Create a sunburst shape like the one you see and spray paint! Let dry for 15 minutes and then peel.

This makes us think of a super graphic sunrise.

3. Washi Lace

Did you know that washi tape also comes in lace patterns? And those patterns work as stencils? Seriously. Create a bunch of lace stripes, spray paint, and peel off the tape. The patterns aren’t perfect but we love the look.

And how great does this piece look next to the sunburst?

4. Chevron Stencil

We created a stencil for this one (print it here) because we can’t get enough of chevron in every form (maybe except gas?). Cut out your stencil with an exact knife and tape onto your canvas. Spray one stripe and then move your stencil over and repeat with a different color.

We’re definitely digging the graffiti-esque look of this one.

By now, your workspace probably looks something like this :)

We decided to hang our collection up on our rooftop because it’s been such a beautiful spring in SF!

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained spinach, chopped artichoke hearts, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, minced garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Mix well until combined.
  3. Transfer the mixture to an oven-safe baking dish, and spread it out evenly.
  4. Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly, and the top is golden brown.
  5. Once baked, remove the dip from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. If desired, garnish with chopped green onions for an extra pop of flavor!
  6. Serve warm with tortilla chips, crispy bread slices, or vegetables for dipping!

Notes For This Spinach Artichoke Dip Recipe

  • Using frozen spinach and canned artichokes makes this recipe easier and quicker. You have the option to use fresh ingredients, if you want to!
  • Add a sprinkling of red pepper flakes if you want the spinach artichoke dip to have a kick of spice.
  • Keep an eye on the dip while it bakes, making sure it doesn't bubble over. If you're struggling to get that golden brown layer on the top, broil the dip for a few minutes at the end of its baking time.
  • You aren't totally limited to Parmesan and mozzarella cheese. Though these cheeses make for the most traditional flavor, you can throw in some different kinds of cheeses to amp up the taste.

Play With Color + Texture

Consider your existing color scheme at home and choose art pieces that complement or contrast them. Bold, vibrant artwork can breathe new life into a neutral room, while textured pieces can add depth and playfulness to a minimal design. Want to give a piece you love the spotlight? Enhance the impact of your art with accent lights or natural light (just make sure to protect it as directed).

Rotate And Refresh

What’s fun about a personal art collection is that you can swap it in a new space for an instant refresh. Consider changing art with the seasons or moving art from one room to the next to give it more exposure in a high-traffic space.

Once you’ve begun to curate art pieces that resonate with you, it’s essential to take good care of your purchases so they’ll stand the test of time and continue to bring you joy.

Here are a few tips on how to preserve your art for a lifetime:

  1. Avoid hanging artwork in direct sunlight or in a space with extreme fluctuations in temperature. Sunlight can cause fading overtime, so explore UV-filtering framing options and be mindful of how the light can change in your space throughout the year.
  2. Keep a microfiber cloth or soft, clean brush on hand for routine dusting and cleaning of your art. Avoid any chemical cleaning solutions or water that could damage the work.
  3. Research the art trends associated with your work and learn more about the creator behind the art so you can take pride in the pieces you’ve curated and feel super knowledgeable about them.

Treat your art with love and care, and let your imagination run wild to create a collection that is truly a reflection of you and your creativity!

A lot can happen in six months. Think back to October 2023 — what has transformed in your life involving security? Are you living in a completely new paradigm? Did you have to let go of something? That is the nature of what a lunar eclipse can bring. Only this time, on March 25–at the beginning of the Aries Season–you can expect a more narrowed focus in the relationship realm, leaving room for you to power through past obstacles. This lunar eclipse in 5 degrees Libra is the official harbinger of the required need to inspect what has been overlooked in your love story.

How can you witness the Lunar Eclipse on March 25, 2024? Where can it be seen?

Photo by Nick Owuor (astro.nic.portraits) on Unsplash

The penumbral lunar eclipse on March 25 will be a partial lunar eclipse in which the moon passes through the outermost edge of the Earth's shadow. It can be seen in most of Europe, North and East Asia, North America, South America, the Arctic, and Antarctica, according to TimeandDate.com.

What will happen during this lunar eclipse?

Photo by Claudio Testa on Unsplash

During lunar eclipses–a supercharged full moon–illuminates the parts of our lives that require change in six months. With the lunar eclipse taking place in the relationship-oriented sign Libra, the themes this lunation will heighten are love, fairness, balance, and justice.

Luckily, this lunar eclipse will empower us to invite the necessary shifts in our love story as the lunar eclipse will trine in aspect with Pluto. This promises reinvention and the ability to attract authenticity in our relationships. Venus will be the leader of this lunar eclipse as it is the planetary ruler of Libra. Relationships will change, and if the latter of fairness or balance goes undetected, this is the gray area we will experience in love. Leading to convoluted thoughts of, "What if?"

Since Venus is in Pisces, it will shed light and truth regarding our connections. The key to navigating this next phase in your love story has to be done by alignment with the heart. This will secure your confidence as Venus aligns with the commitment planet Saturn the same day. Single or not, this lunar eclipse will propel you to make a decision that aligns with your integrity, empowering you to align with your truth and how you will progress.

In whatever house in your birth chart the lunar eclipse will cross over, it will help you let go of an aspect or situation and attract better opportunities in relationships. The hard part is letting go – are you up for it?

This lunar eclipse will impact the cardinal signs Aries, Libra, Capricorn, and Cancer. Witness the changes if you have 5 degrees in these cardinal signs. Read for your sun, moon, and rising for additional insight.

HBO Max announced the third season of Euphoria during the second season — a true testament to the show’s cult following and Gen-Z appeal. Euphoria has already inspired our coolest makeup looks, on-point Halloween costumes, and cool Coachella beauty, so we can’t wait to see what the next season of this neon-lighted, drama-filled story holds. Here’s what we know about season 3, thus far. Stay tuned for more updates!

Why is Euphoria season 3 delayed?

Photo by Eddy Chen / HBO

We've been waiting for Euphoria season 3 for almost two years, but (in addition to Zendaya being #BookedAndBlessed), there's a very good reason for the delay. “[Sam is] a person who writes and rewrites and writes and rewrites again, because I think he's wrestling with what's important,” Colman Domingo tells GQ. “He's responding immediately to what the ills of the world are. I know that the one thing I can tell you is that he's very much interested in the existential question of who we are right now. Our souls. That's what he wants to figure out with season three.”

“HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” HBO says in a statement to Deadlineabout the show's official, if temporary, pause. “In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”

So much has happened in the real world since the end of Euphoria season 2 that could have an impact on the new installment, and I can't wait to see what that looks like.

When is the Euphoria season 3 release date?

Photo by Eddy Chen / HBO

We’re expecting the beloved show to return sometime in 2025. Luckily, fans are familiar with waiting a long time for new releases (remember that 2 ½-year wait for Euphoria season 2?), and hopefully the pent-up hype will be worth it when the show finally comes to streaming.

Will there be a time jump in Euphoria season 3?

Photo by Eddy Chen / HBO

Multiple stakeholders in the Euphoria-verse expressed their interest in seeing the characters out of high school.

When asked about season 3 in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Zendaya expressed her eagerness to see what post-East Highland will look like for the cast: “I think it’ll be exciting to explore the characters out of high school,” said Zendaya. “I want to see what Rue looks like in her sobriety journey, how chaotic that might look. But also with all the characters, in the sense where they’re trying to figure out what to do with their lives when high school is over and what kind of people they want to be.”

Heidi Bivens, the HBO show’s costume designer, hinted further at a time jump between seasons 2 and 3 when talking with Vogue: “There is talk of [season 3] being approximately five years in the future, and that they’re not in high school anymore. Dorothy’s not in Kansas anymore.”

Who's in the Euphoria season 3 cast?

And the cast list? We know that Barbie Ferreira (Kat) won’t be returning for season 3, due to one too many instances of butting heads with the show’s creator, Sam Levinson. At the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, Dominic Fike (who played Elliot in Euphoria season 2) told Variety that it “would be dope” to come back for Euphoria season 3, but that “I don’t really talk to them anymore.” And after Angus Cloud's (Fez) tragic passing, some fans were calling for Max to cancel the series.

But when we do see the series again, it’s safe to say that we’ll see more of the main cast: Zendaya (Rue), Sydney Sweeney, (Cassie), Hunter Schafer (Jules), Alexa Demie (Maddy), Jacob Elordi (Nate), Maude Apatow (Lexi), and more – but who knows? The production team may surprise us with new additions, like they did with Dominic Fike’s Elliot.

What's going to happen in Euphoria season 3?

Photo by Eddy Chen / HBO

Season 2 of Euphoria left us with a lot to unpack: Rue’s (potential) sobriety, Lexi’s chaotic play, Fez and Ash’s shootings, Cal’s insane sexual spiral, and of course, the glorious girl fight between Maddy and Cassie. The third season has some loose ends to tie up, and we can’t wait to see how it’s done.

Sam Levinson tells Elle Euphoria season 3 is more of a “film noir,” and that Rue's plotline will “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.”

How many Euphoria seasons are there?

Photo by Eddy Chen / HBO

There are currently two seasons of Euphoria — both of which you can stream on Max now.
