Home Depot Is About to Become Your One-Stop Shop for All Things Home Goods
Home shoppers, rejoice. Now while one person in your family shops for hammers, lumber, and other items to keep your home in good repair, you can shop for bedding, towels, artwork, and other home decor to make it look good — all in one store. It’s like hardware store meets your favorite home goods store. Actually, it’s exactly like that with the recent announcement that Home Depot has purchased The Company Store.
We’re not clear on all the details (Home Depot, respond to our pleas, please!), but we can only hope it’s going to be as great as it sounds. The Company Store offers so many amazing and affordable options for furniture, bedding, accessories, and more, and Home Depot offers the essentials for home improvement. The two together makes a crazy amount of sense. We’d love to buy the perfect tile for our tub and towels to match, or pick out bedding to go with our new flooring all in one place.
“The acquisition of The Company Store provides product development and sourcing capabilities to help us expand our online decor business into broader categories across the entire home,” Craig Menear, chairman, CEO, and president of The Home Depot said in a press release.
So whether that means this will happen online only or in stores too at some point (The Company Store’s five brick-and-mortar locations were not included in the deal), we’re not sure. We’ll be eagerly awaiting more news though as the details are hammered out.
