#KindnessDay is here and we’re raising our hands for it.
Instagram’s Throwing a Giant in-Person Party This Weekend (and You’re Invited!)

We love scrolling through Instagram and seeing gorgeous wedding invitations and flowery spring cakes beautifying our feed. Starting today, though, we’ll be seeing a different kind of beauty on the social media platform: People all over the world are celebrating #KindnessDay on Instagram, and it’s super inspiring. But the best part? This weekend, Instagram will be hosting IRL kindness parties around the world… and we have the deets on how to get in on the action.
But first: Here’s how people are celebrating Kindness Day right now. The hashtag #🙌🙌🙌 is being used to leave encouraging comments, give someone who inspires you a “like,” show support, and just spread kindness in general. People we’ve seen use it so far include celebrities AND average Joes/Janes.
David Arquette’s little boy looks adorable in his Captain America jammies with his hands raised. Arquette says, “We’re all for @instagram#KindnessDay here at the Arquette house. Highlight the kind peeps in your life, I’ll start with my oldest boy #🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 😘.”
Lily Collins was all for it, saying “A rare use of emojis today –– for a good cause! It’s #KindnessDay on Instagram, so make sure to use this platform to lift each other up. Spread only positivity and love #🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼…”
Even TV shows were getting in on it. NBC’s Blindspot posted a pic of two of its main characters, saying that to show their appreciation they’d be following people who said uplifting things about others in the comments.
The kindness and love don’t end there — remember that party? According to an announcement from Instagram, tens of thousands of people will come together globally on March 25 and 26 for Worldwide InstaMeet 15 to “share their stories and spread kindness in the world.” You can find an InstaMeet near you and meet up with friends and strangers to partake in an outpouring of positivity. If you can’t go, don’t worry — you can use the hashtag all year long.
In the spirit of #KindnessDay, we want to tell you, our readers, we love you, we value you, and to keep powering through 2017 like you OWN IT. Because you do. #🙌🙌🙌
