Madonna’s Purim Costume Hints She Just Might Be a Disney Fan
Leave it to Madonna, who is a devoted Kabbalist, to show up to a Purim party in a costume that’s chock full of her signature shock-and-awe style.
On Sunday, Madge wore a yellow dress to match character Belle’s famous ball gown, a ghastly mask to channel her inner beast, and she even included the rose! It’s a timely costume, considering the live-action Beauty and the Beast (starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens) will be released on Friday. We get the feeling she’ll definitely be seeing the film.
Purim is a Jewish festival that celebrates the defeat of a plot by villain Haman to kill the Jews. In addition to Hamantaschen pastries and cookies, people throw costume parties to commemorate.
Madonna, who’s practiced Kabbalah since the mid-’90s, has an archive of past costumes that include a nun, a flapper, and a goth schoolgirl. “Elegant and Lady Like. Confident yet Loving. Thats what matters! happy Purim!,” Madonna captioned one of the Instagram photographs.
Leave it to the Material Girl to bring the drama.
