Meghan Markle Is Getting Her Own Madame Tussauds Wax Figure
Meghan Markle will officially join the royal family when she weds Prince Harry on Saturday, May 19. As part of her preparations, she was reportedly baptized into the Church of England recently, and soon, she’ll take one more step toward being a royal — albeit in a much less official capacity: Markle is set to get her own wax figure at the famous Madame Tussauds.
The London location of the museum announced the news in a pretty epic way on Wednesday morning, when unofficial “town crier” Anthony Appleton declared the news outside Buckingham Palace’s gates.
“Edward Fuller, general manager of Madame Tussauds London, is proud to announce the imminent arrival of her royal likeness, Meghan Markle,” he read from a scroll before dishing further details (which included a nod to her acting days on Suits, natch). “The future princess, bride-to-be, and queen of the courtroom will be safely delivered to the world-famous London attraction [in] early May 2018. Meghan will take her place beside her future husband, Prince Harry.”
For now, details on the outfit and pose of the already-completed figure are a tightly guarded secret, but Madame Tussauds said that “the choice will reflect an iconic moment in Meghan’s royal journey so far.”
“It’s clear that the public has already taken Meghan to their hearts,” Madame Tussauds GM Fuller said in a statement. “One half of arguably the most famous couple in the world right now, she’s already made her own mark as a humanitarian and role model. We’re excited to give guests the chance to ‘meet’ her in attraction later this year.”
The New York location also announced that a figure of the “American Princess” would be unveiled at that location in spring 2018.
