Nike Just Launched a Power Pink Shoe With a Seriously Awesome Message
ICYMI, women are having a serious moment. Members of the female gender are taking their place in the spotlight when it comes to the Olympics, films, and everything in between. Brands are taking note, too, and while some have missed the mark (ay yi yi, Doritos!), others are right on the money. Take Nike’s latest Air Force 1 offering, for example.
An homage to the initial Air Force 1 sneaker that made its debut back in 1982, the Nike SF Air Force 1 vintage wine sneaker is a modern, feminine take on the military style. It features all the same elements that made the original so great (including a springy Airsole cushion and oversized midsole), but it also lets the world know, in no uncertain terms, just who is in charge with the phrase “The Force Is Female” emblazoned at the back heel, the straps, and printed on the interior (you know, as a reminder).
You can also get it in a mid ($160) or a lower, Ultraforce version (seen below, $110).
The shoes are part of a larger “The Force Is Female” Campaign, which launched back in October with Ruby Rose as its face. The line is dedicated to strong females who are “redefining what it means to be a force in the creative sphere” and serving as an inspiration to women and girls the world over.
That includes babes from just about every industry, from the beauty world (see: KNC Beauty creator Kristen Noel Crawley) to musicians, such as Chicago-based singer Ravyn Lenae to Nike athletes.
We’ll take one of each, please!
