Easy Appetizer: Spicy Chevre-Stuffed Dates

Once you stuff gooey, pitted dates with soft and creamy goat cheese, you’ll never make another kind of appetizer again (or eat another, for that matter!). The addition of Chinese five spice and cayenne give this finger food its kick.

  • Chinese five-spice powder  ( 2 teaspoons )
  • cayenne  ( 1/4- 1/2 teaspoon )
  • light agave  ( 1/4 cup )
  • pecan halves  ( 1 cup )
  • sea salt 
  • dried thyme  ( 1 teaspoon )
  • orange or tangerine zest  ( 1 teaspoon )
  • soft goat cheese (such as Montrachet), set in a bowl at room temperature to soften a bit  ( 1/2 cup )
  • Medjool dates, pitted by making a slit down the center and removing the pit, keeping the date as intact as possible  ( 24 )
