Thai-style Chicken Legs

A sweet and spicy marinade adds a Thai-style kick to chicken legs. Serve with a side of tangy mango slaw to make it a complete meal.

  • garlic cloves, coarsely chopped  ( 5 )
  • chopped cilantro (or flat-leaf parsley if you are cilantro-averse)  ( 1/4 cup )
  • Asian fish sauce  ( 1/4 cup )
  • vegetable oil  ( 1/4 cup )
  • hoisin sauce (I accidentally doubled this and can only advise you do the same)  ( 2 tablespoons )
  • ground coriander  ( 1 1/2 teaspoons )
  • Kosher salt  ( 1 teaspoon )
  • freshly ground black or white pepper  ( 1 teaspoon )
  • whole chicken legs, split, or 8 drumsticks and 8 thighs (about 5 pounds total)  ( 8 )
  • Thai sweet chili sauce, for serving
