There’s Now a Peeing Dog Figure Next to the “Fearless Girl,” Seemingly Installed Out of Spite
While we were totally psyched to find out that the “Fearless Girl” statue would be standing her ground for another year, it was clear that the creator of the infamous “Charging Bull” statue, Arturo Di Modica, wasn’t as thrilled. And while most of us hoped he would get a clue as to why the additional art piece is important to many, it now appears as if another clueless dude has stepped in with a gesture that comes off as nothing more than attention-seeking spite.
Alex Gardega has just placed “Pissing Pug” next to the “Fearless Girl” statue by artist Kristen Visbal. The “sloppily crafted pooch” (as the NY Post describes it) is clearly meant to be peeing on the leg of the young girl. He claims his motivation was the “corporate nonsense” behind “Fearless Girl.”
Alex Gardena is every white guy who can't stand that he has to compete with women and PoC in America. What a loser! https://t.co/fwzAimevO4

“[“Fearless Girl”] has nothing to do with feminism, and it is disrespect to the artist that made the bull,” he said, though it seems more like this new statue was his own grab at attention rather than an attempt to protect the bull. He continued, saying, “That bull had integrity.” Perhaps, however, it’s important to note that the bull hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s still exactly where it’s stood since it was *illegally* installed back in the ‘80s.
While Gardega, an Upper West Side artist, defended his creation by saying, “I decided to build this dog and make it crappy to downgrade the statue, exactly how the girl is a downgrade on the bull,” it seems like the public isn’t into his addition, with the NY Post noting that one woman kicked the dog statue as she walked by, telling Gardega, “That’s an a–hole move. You call this art?”
While the “Fearless Statue” was mostly embraced by NYC and has been granted plenty of time to make her mark, we highly doubt “Pissing Pug” will be around for much longer.
