This Device Lets You Print Photos from Your Phone Without Any Ink
Smartphone cameras and photography apps like Instagram have made it easier than ever to snap and share memorable photos with our friends and family, without any bulky photo printers or old-school instant-print cameras. But Polaroid is ready to prove that there is still a place for photo printers in the Snapchat era. Its new, vintage-inspired, wireless Polaroid Zip mobile printer will allow you to print out photos directly from your smartphone or tablet. Oh, and did we mention that the printer requires zero ink? Yup, you’re going to want one ASAP.
To use the Polaroid Zip mobile printer, all you have to do is connect your smartphone, tablet or other device to the mobile printer over Bluetooth. After you select any photo from your device, the mobile printer will wirelessly print a vibrant, two-by-three-inch smudge-proof color photo with a peel-off sticky back. The printer comes with the Polaroid Zip app for iOS and Android, so you can edit your photos or add text and other media like emojis prior to printing.
The best part about this mobile printer is that it lets you ditch the pricey ink cartridges and printer ribbons. Instead, the printer uses ZINK (Zero Ink) photo paper, which contains embedded color-forming molecules that are activated by the heat of the printer. Even cooler? It’s about the size of a smart phone and weighs less than half a pound.
The printer comes with a fully rechargeable battery, a standard micro-USB port, a USB to micro-USB cable and 10 sheets of ZINK paper. It can print as many as 25 sheets when fully charged, so you can turn your living room into a darkroom for hours. One of these incredible devices will set you back a cool $125. We can’t wait to try it out with one of our fave photo booth backdrops!
