Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Garner Had the Sweetest Reactions to Ariana Grande’s ‘Thank U, Next’ Video
Ariana Grande went all out with the pop culture references in her “Thank U, Next” music video, paying tribute to iconic movies including Mean Girls,Legally Blonde, and 13 Going on 30. And as it turns out, the stars of the latter two films love Grande just as much as she loves them.
Elle Woods herself, Reese Witherspoon, gave major props to the 25-year-old for her excellent rendition of the Bend and Snap. “Can we please talk about @ArianaGrande’s Bend and Snap?! 10/10 nailed it!” she tweeted with a couple of heart and raising hands emojis. And her praises didn’t end there. When another fan commented that “Ariana Grande and Jennifer Coolidge doing the bend and snap has given me the energy to live for at least another year,” the Big Little Lies star jumped in to correct them, responding, “A lifetime.” YES.
Grande replied to the compliment, revealing that she was actually trying not to do the move the exact same way, “OMG, we tried to put our own twist on it so legal wouldn’t come for us but THANK U,” she tweeted. “this is the biggest honor. Love u more than words.”
Then it was Jennifer Garner’s turn to get in on the love fest. Taking to Instagram to share a clip from the video showing Ari with a dollhouse similar to the one her character had in 13 Going on 30, the actress gushed, “Every now and then something comes along and just brightens your day. @arianagrande you’re adorable. Thank you, pretty girl.” Grande could hardly believe it, tweeting, “Jennifer’s post guys I……… help me.”
She later commented on the post itself: “i’m crying. i watched this movie every night before bed growing up (and i still do sometimes, especially when i’m sad). i adore you! thank you for all the inspiration and joy you’ve brought to my life. i’m screaming bye.”
The ladies weren’t the only ones loving all the references, though. Garner’s costar, Mark Ruffalo, delivered praise and the perfect movie reference when he tweeted, “Having some Razzles (it’s a candy AND a gum) in your honor, @ArianaGrande!”
