You’ve popped the Champagne, and now it’s time to keep those New Year’s resolutions past the month of January. But TBH, it doesn’t matter whether you vowed to fix your relationship or took an expert-approved health resolution to heart: Finding resources to help you be successful can be the toughest part. That’s why we took five fave resolutions and found an online course for each that will kickstart your road to a v. successful 2017. Read on; resolution on.
If Your Resolution Was To… Be a Better Cook
Masterclass With Gordon Ramsay ($90): So you’ve decided that 2017 is the year of home-cooked meals and dinner dates in. Awesome! But one problem: Your cooking skills stop at boiling water (which, honestly, great start). Insert famously hot-headed chef Gordon Ramsay right into your home! The price tag gets you at least 15 online video lessons, a downloadable workbook with tips and recipes and a chance that Ramsay himself could pick your question to respond to.
… Travel More
Duolingo (Free): Nuevo año, nuevo tú — amirite? Whether you want to travel to France, Germany, Brazil or practically anywhere else in the world, you’re going to want to know at least a bit of the local language. Duolingo is super easy to use, and the bite-size lessons make it simple to get some quick practice in while you’re on the go.
… Learn How to Code
Codecademy (Free): If you made this tech-forward goal priority number one for the new year, good for you. For #girlbosses all around the world, knowing a bit of programming can take your career to new heights. Luckily for us, Codecademy is a saving grace, offering completely free courses that will have you casually scripting algorithms (and using words like “algorithm”) in no time.
… Prioritize Your Photography
Lynda.com Photoshop Tutorials ($20-$30 per month): Whether you’re an amateur photographer or a pro looking to take your business to the next level, having a grasp of Photoshop is a must. Lynda.com — known for teaching all sorts of design skills — is the place to be. You’ll be able to select everything from basic tutorials to courses covering niche techniques, so you’ll find something useful no matter where you are in your journey.
… Be More Creative
Intro to Ink Illustration Online Class ($29): If 2017 is your year to live more creatively, you’ve come to the right place. Taught by Lauren Hom, a certified design boss and absolute cool girl, this class will show you how to turn your favorite everyday objects into ink illustrations by using basic drawing techniques.
