Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s Favorite Book Is a Childhood Classic
As if the royal babies could be any sweeter. Whether they’re rocking their royal portraits or first birthday pics, or looking cool AF meeting the Obamas, everything these adorable tots do makes international news. And for good reason — Prince George will be King of England one day, and his adorable sister Charlotte will no doubt become a superstar philanthropist like Uncle Harry. Their parents, Prince William and Dutchess Kate, however, tend to keep their babies as private as they can, so it’s always exciting when we learn little tidbits about their lives.
At a library opening at Oxford University, Prince William let it slip to a group of visiting school children that his babies love books and their favorite is none other than British children’s classic The Gruffalo, the story of a little mouse who uses his know-how to escape danger while walking through the forest.
With easy-to-remember (and insanely adorable) rhymes like, “A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood. A fox saw the mouse, and the mouse looked good,” we can see why the royal babes love listening to this story being read to them night after night.
When asked by the schoolchildren what he liked to read, Prince William revealed that he loves the book as much as his kids do. No doubt sales of The Gruffalo will jump up with this admission. We know what’s on our gift list for every baby shower from here on out.
