Why This Pregnant Olympic Athlete’s Instagram Post Is Going Viral
Sydney Leroux Dwyer is an Olympic gold medalist and a professional soccer player. She also happens to be pregnant. While spending the day at the lake with her husband a few weeks ago, Sydney shared a photo on Instagram of her and her hubs enjoying a ride on an intertube. Because the Internet is such a kind and understanding place (LOL), Sydney was immediately faced with commenting trolls who had some super intrusive things to say about how she was handling her pregnancy. Shortly after that, Sydney decided to tell them what’s up.
In a follow-up photo (pictured below) Sydney wrote, “It’s unfortunate that I have to say something but after a number of comments like, ‘You’re going to give birth to a dead fetus’ or ‘you just killed your baby’ I have to remind you that this is MY body. MY body is the body that is creating life. MY body is the one that has stretch marks and cellulite and varicose veins and sore hips and back pain that runs down my legs. MY body is the body that is tired and sore and emotional and the happiest it’s ever been. So if I want to jump in a pool, go on a tube and slowly ride around with my husband, dance like an idiot or work out I am absolutely going to. Leave your awful comments to yourself and let me enjoy MYSELF and MY body the way I want to.”

Yaaas, girl. You do you. BTW, Sydney has since shared a photo of an ultrasound and her baby is doing a-okay.
