The holidays are a great time to finally clean out that closet. But what if, instead of just throwing clothes away, you could actually make some money off them? Sounds like a great way to earn a few extra bucks for holiday shopping, eh?
Enter Threadflip, a site that lets you sell all of your “pre-loved” clothes for other women to buy. It’s basically like a massive designer consignment store online. And though it sounds like Ebay, I can guarantee you it looks and feels NOTHING like it. (Full disclosure: I’m both an advisor and an avid user.) The styles you’ll find on Threadflip are incredibly high fashion and the quality of the pre-worn items is extremely high. Plus, you can snag some insane deals! I’m personally more of a shopper than a seller, but given that I just cleaned out my closet, I’m looking to sell a pile of clothes on the site very soon.
So how does it work? The process of uploading your clothes is extremely simple. Just list each item, decide on a price, and add a photo. You can even import photos from Facebook if you don’t want to take any new pictures. Once something sells, you get a percentage of the total, making it a pretty amazing way to score some extra cash.
If listing your clothes is too much of a hassle, Threadflip also offers something called the White Glove Service which lets you simply throw your pile of unwanted clothes into a box for the company to upload and list for you! This takes 99% of the hassle out of re-selling clothes — it really can’t be easier.
I recently took a tour through the Threadflip headquarters and found some seriously amazing pieces. So many, in fact, that I thought I’d give you a sneak peek at the types of incredible goods you can score on this site.
Bonus: if you decide to go shopping, be sure to use our promotional code, BRIT, for $20 off purchases of $50 or more for any item on Threadflip! Expires November 30, 2012.
I loved this entire outfit. It was so comfortable despite how chic it looks! You can’t see it here in the photos, but that jacket has THE most flattering back ever. Click through below to check it out. Oh and those wedge booties felt like tennis shoes – I could walk in them all day long!
AQUA LEOPARD PRINT DRESS ($32)
TROSMAN WEDGE BOOTIES ($382)
WASHED LEATHER JACKET ($327)
This is totally an outfit I’d wear to the office or even out on the town. I ended up buying the gold necklace (sorry, ladies, it was too cute – I needed it), but left the rest for you to enjoy! The pants are the perfect shade of autumn brown and the shoes are high but surprisingly pretty comfy.
PLEATED TUNIC BLOUSE ($102)
THVM “ORION” TWO TONE HI RISE JEAN ($57)
PONY HAIR PLATFORM PUMPS ($122)
BCBG EVENING BAG ($57)
This was my favorite outfit from the bunch. It’s a modern vintage look, with a designer touch. The Chloe jacket was incredible and how cute is the peek-a-boo dress!? That shade of red-orange is my favorite color. The bag, admittedly, is a total splurge item.
SEE BY CHLOE IVORY LEATHER JACKET ($192)
‘RIVE GAUCHE’ SATCHEL ($957)
STRUCTURED PLEATS CUT OUT DRESS ($32)
“SAPPHO” HEELED VINYL SANDAL ($232)
I felt like a celebrity in this Derek Lam ensemble! The Threadflip girls picked it out and I almost didn’t even want to touch it, it was that beautiful. Beware, the dress is beaded and HEAVY. Like, even heavier than my wedding dress. But, isn’t it gorgeous? Oh, and Jimmy Choo shoes for under $300? Holiday wishlist, please.
