Dancing With the Stars鈥 Vanessa Lachey and Maksim Chmerkovskiy haven鈥檛 had the easiest season so far. Though they鈥檙e consistently one of the top-scoring couples in the competition, rumors that a feud was behind Chmerkovskiy鈥檚 absence one week continue to follow the pair. Chmerkovskiy and other cast members have previously tried to dispel any reports of tension, and now the two dancers at the center of the drama are tackling the rumors head on.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a pebble in the pond,鈥 Lachey told Us Weekly at the 7th Annual Baby Ball Gala in celebration of World Adoption Day in LA on Saturday, October 21. 鈥淓verything is great. And honestly I kind of giggle at it!鈥 Lachey had previously discussed her on-set dynamic with the dance pro, but she had not previously addressed the conflict rumors.

Chmerkovskiy opened up in a similar way to Us Weekly while attending the Maxim Halloween party in LA on Saturday. 鈥淲hat drama?鈥 he replied when asked about the situation. 鈥淸Things] were never bad. They were great things. It鈥檚 been a great season.鈥

He also stressed that the show, which is competitive and physically demanding by nature, is hard on everyone. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a tough show. Everybody鈥檚 going through a little bit of a menial lifetime through this whole process, and when you鈥檙e good enough to make it all the way, you go through that much more stuff.鈥

鈥淲e鈥檙e a great couple,鈥 he concluded. 鈥淲e鈥檙e doing our best. She鈥檚 giving me all the time that she should and I can鈥檛 wait for this Monday to show what we鈥檝e been working on.鈥

Chmerkovskiy went so far as to say in an Instagram sneak peek of this week鈥檚 鈥淎 Night at the Movies鈥 episode that Lachey will be at her 鈥渁bsolute best of the season!!!鈥 Whether reports of their conflicting personalities were true or false, it seems that any tension is water under the bridge now.
