Win Thousands in the World’s First Kale-Eating Competition
We know you LOVE kale, and you’re certainly not alone: This leafy delight earns it way onto almost every plate, from kale on pizza to kale in lasagna. We snack on cheesy vegan kale chips during a road trip with our besties and chow down kale-filled Buddha bowls for a quick and healthy meal. Let’s face it — there are a gazillion ways to enjoy this healthy green, which may be why people eat so much of it. It probably isn’t THAT much of a surprise that there’s now a kale-eating competition that will pit the best against the best when it comes to devouring our fave go-to green.
Declaring that “It’s Crunch Time” on the Healthy Options website, we’re told that “For the first time in human history, the world’s greatest eaters will test themselves against the ALMIGHTY KALE — the leafy green vegetable that has captured the hearts and minds of both the culinary set and those for whom their body is a temple.” Intense and delicious, no?
What’s also pretty darn yummy is that the winner will take home $2,000 for their epic eating feat, and will be able to count themselves among the elite echelons of Ben Do (who ate seven pounds of poutine in 10 minutes), Carmen Cincotti (who ate 42 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes) and Daniella Gioia (who ate 35 Twinkies in six minutes). It’s certainly a belly-stuffing accomplishment.
This epic battle is happening this Saturday, July 9 in Buffalo, NY, and is being called “the healthiest eating contest in the history of the world.”
