Surprise Your Mom With Our Watermelon Cucumber Mom-osa Recipe!

Now that we’re older, we don’t have to rely on pocket money to fund the homemade gifts we make for our moms. Paper flowers (we still love crepe paper crafts!), pen holders made from an old can, pasta necklaces — they were cute, but Mom totally chucked them away the moment we went to bed. Well this Mother’s day, you can make her something she’s guaranteed to love. Watermelon and cucumber “Mom”-osas! Whip up a batch of the watermelon and cucumber mixer, then take it round to your mom’s, armed with a bottle of bubbly. If you’re lucky, she may just share. Love watermelon? Ingredients:

Makes 6-8 glasses of “Mom”-osa

  • 3 cups of cubed watermelon (try to use a ripe watermelon, as it will be sweeter), seeds removed
  • 1/3 of a large cucumber, peeled and chopped into chunks
  • juice of 2 large oranges
  • half a bottle of Champagne or prosecco, well chilled

To decorate:

  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • small watermelon wedges
  • cucumber slices (use mini cucumbers, if you can find them)

Instructions:

  1. Decorate Champagne glasses with a sugar rim by dipping the rim of the glasses into a saucer of water, then into a separate saucer with the granulated sugar.
  2. Place the watermelon, cucumber, and orange juice in a food processor or blender and blend until as smooth as possible.
  3. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a large jug or jar.
