Caitriona Balfe was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama Television Series at the 2018 Golden Globes on Sunday, and while she lost her category to Elisabeth Moss in TheHandmaid’s Tale, she had another, even better reason to celebrate: The Outlander star revealed that she’s engaged to boyfriend Tony McGill, and she even showed off her ring on the red carpet.
“It happened over the break. I’m very happy,” the actress told Peoplebefore the show.
Balfe and McGille have been dating for nearly two years, but they’ve kept their relationship relatively private and are rarely seen in public together. She wasn’t shy about showing off her engagement ring on the red carpet, though — according to People, it’s a round diamond set between two sapphires.
Along with the new bling, Balfe joined almost all of the night’s other attendees in wearing black to support the Time’s Up movement.
Sunday night’s 75th annual Golden Globes were largely dominated by women, both on the red carpet and during the ceremony, but the pre-show had a few lighter romantic moments too: Some of our favorite Hollywood couples were in attendance, looking as cute as ever, and the elusive Diane Kruger and Norman Reedus even made their year-long relationship red-carpet official.
So far, Balfe hasn’t shared any additional proposal or wedding details.
