Anna Faris Praises Ex Chris Pratt Post-Split: “Life’s Too Short”
When news broke in August that Hollywood couple Anna Faris and Chris Pratt were separating, our collective jaws dropped. Both actors stayed relatively quiet in the days immediately following the announcement, but with the release of Faris’ book, Unqualified, on Tuesday, the podcast host has been on a promo tour and can’t escape talk of her split from Pratt.
On Live! With Kelly and Ryan Monday, Faris said that she gave Pratt an advanced copy of the book after their separation, which prompted host Kelly Ripa to joke, “Was that the deal?” Faris quickly assured Ripa and Ryan Seacrest that she and her ex are on good terms. “We’re great. He’s amazing and it was so kind of him to do that [write the foreword]. We’re great friends, and we always will be. Life’s too short,” she said.
The actors met on the set of their film Take Me Home Tonight in 2007, when Faris was married to actor Ben Indra. In the book, she describes how smitten she was with Pratt (though she notes that she asked Indra for a divorce before actively pursuing her costar). She also opens up about the downsides of being famous and married.
Earlier this year, tabloids reported that Pratt was cheating on his wife with his Passengers costar Jennifer Lawrence, something Faris describes in the book. “Of course it’s hurtful and also embarrassing when the tabloids are saying your husband is cheating on you — even if it’s patently untrue,” she writes, according to The New York Times.
Faris told the Times that the real story of their split is “kind of dull. It’s a little bit like, two incredibly busy people that care a lot for each other got really busy.”
She also stressed that she tried to be really candid with readers. “I just wanted to make sure anyone who was actually willing to read the book felt like I wasn’t glorifying my life at all. I am clearly a flawed person,” she told the paper. “This is terrifying, that I’m writing about stuff that makes me feel incredibly vulnerable.”
