Get the Look of Marisa Tomei’s Uber Arty Manhattan Condo
A lot of celebrities leave their home decorating to the pros, but Academy Award-winning actress Marisa Tomei is not one of those people. She took an active role when it came to putting together her arty Manhattan apartment. According to her interview with Elle Decor, she claims a “serious furniture” habit and loves hunting down thrift store treasures when she’s not working. A fellow Goodwill lover? Now we want to know if she’s ever hacked a thrift store find. Scroll down to get a few ideas on how to steal Marisa’s look for your own home, and make sure to check out the full home tour on Elle Decor.
Thanks to Marisa’s penchant for antiques, every room in her house feels like an art museum, but in a totally good way. She’s gathered up treasures from all over the world and they all live together in harmony in her eclectic condo in Greenwich. She chose to keep the color palette neutral so that statement pieces like interesting textiles and vintage furniture would really pop. The living room boasts a pair of comfy armchairs she found on eBay and a killer set of bright yellow foot stools. Instead of going with the classic gallery wall, she chose to make a real statement with three enormous wall hangings and two fun pieces of abstract art.
Recreate Marisa’s lovely living room with a Courtney Sofa ($550) from Target and a pair of Abbyson Living Alexia Table Lamps ($198) from Bed Bath and Beyond. If you’re dealing with a small space, this DIY yellow velvet bench from Lovely Indeed is perfect for occasional seating. Pass on the traditional gallery wall and copy Marisa’s wall of weavings, only instead of hunting down antique hangings, make your own with this super easy DIY from Brit + Co.
Kitchen
The kitchen is a classic all-white number with a subway tile backsplash that goes all the way to the ceiling. Instead of cabinets, Marisa went for open shelving that allowed her to show off her sterling silver candlesticks, colorful dishes and huge cookbook collection.
Marisa’s kitchen is a trendy blend of antique finds and modern pieces. Bedroom
Ooo la la, aren’t the purple walls in Marisa’s master bedroom fabulous? The orange chairs and giant fiddle-leaf fig tree give the space a boho vibe. The room is a cozy blend of textures — faux fur, velvet, gold and a big knobby rug — and looks like a dreamy place to relax after filming.
