Today on the set of Marvel’s Deadpool 2 in Vancouver, a stunt person died after her motorcycle crashed during filming. The name of the crew member has not been released, but Vancouver police confirmed the death shortly after it happened. Now, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is speaking out about the devastating accident.

“Today, we tragically lost a member of our crew while filming Deadpool,” the actor wrote on Twitter. “We’re heartbroken, shocked, and devastated … but recognize nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment. My heart pours out to them — along with each and every person she touched in this world.”

20th Century Fox also addressed the tragedy. “We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred on the set of Deadpool 2 this morning,” a spokesperson for the studio said in a statement. “Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends, and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time.”

The horrific accident happened at about 8:20am, when the stuntwoman “reportedly lost control of her motorcycle and crashed through the glass of the Shaw Tower’s ground studio,” according to Variety. WorkSafeBC has launched an investigation into what happened.
