First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself and your company鈥檚 mission?

I live in Los Angeles and am basically obsessed with pretty things! Whether it鈥檚 a pretty product, or a pretty home, or pretty packaging on a can of pasta 鈥 I鈥檓 in. However, most pretty things require a lot of money, so my goal is to be able to make beautiful things by hand and feel way better about it.

Why did you decide to start Almost Makes Perfect?

Almost Makes Perfect was created not only to improve my own crafting skills, but to hopefully inspire others that you don鈥檛 have to be that technically skilled in order to make beautiful things.

When did you first realize you love to make? When did you realize you could do this full-time?

I鈥檝e been doing art and crafting since I was little. I remember taking an art class where we would make clay necklaces, paper mache and paint furniture and trinket boxes. I then went to an arts high school and art college where I majored in digital media. I鈥檝e always been into design and making things and I don鈥檛 think i鈥檒l ever stop.

What鈥檚 one piece of advice you鈥檇 share with other makers?

Don鈥檛 take yourself too seriously! Creating things is fun. Forgive and laugh at yourself when you mess up, and it will stay fun.

What other creative hobbies do you have?

When I鈥檓 not blogging, I work freelance as a graphic designer and a TV editor. I also love interior design and baking.

The holidays are鈥 rad. I love being with my family all together, and kind of focusing more on our relationships than we do the rest of the year.

My favorite holiday tradition is鈥 making a huge breakfast and wearing our pajamas all day on Christmas, until we drag ourselves out of the house to see a movie.

No holiday meal is complete without鈥 my husbands chestnut and sausage stuffing. It鈥檚 something I literally look forward to all year.

My favorite thing to make during the holidays is鈥 beautiful wrapped gifts because my family loves it. I also try a new maple or pumpkin dessert recipe every holiday.

My favorite holiday memory is鈥 getting engaged last Christmas! Getting to announce it to my parents was the best gift I鈥檝e ever given them.

My favorite holiday movie is鈥 Love Actually and Scrooged. I have watched both a zillion times!

All I want for the holidays is鈥 my family and maybe some jewelry and pretty coffee table books.

The best gift I鈥檝e ever given is鈥 I gave my husband front row tickets to Penn & Teller in Vegas and I鈥檝e never seen him more excited. Money well spent.
