Next up as we journey through our book, Homemakers, room by room is the one, the only, the CLOSET.

The closet is either a woman’s favorite place in the house or the space she most abhors. Getting dressed is a ritual, and frankly, women either love it or hate it — or most often, both! We’ve all had those mornings where we try on 20 different outfits only to end up wearing the very first one we put on. For today’s sneak peek into the book, we’re sharing tips on how to keep your closet organized.

While organizing your clothes isn’t always the most fun task in the world, it will save you a lot of time in the morning and enable you to dress more creatively because you’ll be able to see all of your options at a glance. We’re all about hanging everything, and organizing it by type and color. T-shirts should be together, dresses together and so on.

Here are a few tips from our community on how to stay organized:

1. If you haven’t worn it in a year, throw it out! The best organization is not having to struggle through junk to find what you really love.

2. Use the back of the door to maximize space. Add small hanger hooks for grab-and-go items like jackets, scarves and so on.

3. Amortize. Buy quality things that will last a long time. Say no to cheap fashion. When you do that, you’ll end up with fewer things and a cleaner closet.

4. I go to local thrift shops and buy vintage suitcases to store winter clothes up high on shelves without the “clutter” look that usually comes with stacking piles of sweaters. They cost just a few dollars and can hold a whole lot of sweaters! Bonus: They don’t smell like mothballs and are within easy reach on a chilly summer beach night.

There’s more where that came from! Be sure to pre-order Homemakers for over 1,000 tips and tricks for living more creatively, inside and outside the home.

Here’s what the book is about, straight from the back cover:

The rules of homemaking have radically changed. Today’s generation is digitally connected 24/7 and often more focused on climbing the career ladder at the office than the stepladder at home.

But the home “maker” evolution has just begun. Thanks to advances in technology, tomorrow’s men and women will find themselves using new gadgets and apps to cook, clean, decorate and even manufacture everything from decor to clothing, from right inside their homes.

In Homemakers, Brit Morin, founder of the wildly popular lifestyle brand, app, and website Brit + Co, reimagines homemaking for the twenty-first century, making it as simple as possible to go from amateur to pro with easy charts, tips, recipes, DIY projects and tech shortcuts. Simple, beautiful and stylish, it offers the digital generation a wealth of innovative ideas and how-tos for a more creative life.

But wait, there’s more! For a limited time only, we are offering up all sorts of awesome freebies if you pre-order the book. From inspirational prints to a custom-etched Moleskine to a dinner party hosted by Brit Morin herself, head to our Homemakers Gifts page to see what you can score.

We can’t wait for you to see our book in person — Homemakers hits shelves on March 3. Woot woot!
