When Life Gives You Lemons… Make Lavender Lemon Candles!
When we stumbled upon this Martha Stewart lemon candle recipe we were in awe. Using fruit as a candle votive? What a great idea! Let’s not forget to mention that this DIY is SUPER easy. You can create these candles in under 15 mins. No joke! We decided to add our own twist by using one of our favorite scents (and colors!)—lavender. These candles are a great addition to any spring time center piece. I mean come on, they pretty much look like little Easter eggs!
– 1 cup microwaveable candle wax
– lavender essential oil
– dried lavender
– 2 lemons
– 4 candle wicks
– purple food coloring
– mason jar
– stirring stick
1. Cut the lemons in half, longways. Remove the pulp from inside.
2. Microwave the candle wax in a mason jar or old mug for about 2 mins. Stir until dissolved.
3. Add the dried lavender, lavender oil, and food coloring to the mixture. Stir.
4. Insert the candle wick in the center of the lemon and pour in mixture.
5. Let the wax cool and then burn baby burn.
Slice the long side of the lemon to create two halves. Remove the pulp from the inside—if the knife doesn’t work grab a spoon! Now that the insides are all out—I hope you put them to some good use! Lemon water anyone?—time to make the lavender candle filling.
Pour about one cup of candle wax into a mason jar and microwave for about two minutes. You may need to stir in-between. Add dried lavender, lavender oil, and purple food coloring (all to your desired amount). Stir all the ingredients together. *Note* The liquid won’t turn purple, but their will be a soft purple hue once the wax has settled.
Insert the candle wick in the center of the candle and then pour in the melted wax.
Check these out! They look like they should be apart of a bird feeder. :)
Was I right?! A soft lavender hue, how springy. Light these babies up!
These candles are perfect for spring and Easter! The pastel colors will blend nicely with all of your Easter eggs.
Lemon lavender candles anyone?
