Paris Jackson Clarifies Reports That She Checked Into Treatment for Her Emotional Health
Following reports earlier this week that she had checked into a treatment facility to “improve her emotional health,” Paris Jackson spoke out to clarify that she is stepping back from work and social media but otherwise doing well.
“The media is exaggerating per usual,” Jackson captioned an Instagram selfie with her beloved dog, Koa. “Yes I’ve taken a break from work and social media and my phone because it can be too much sometimes, and everyone deserves a break, but I am happy and healthy and feeling better than ever!”
The model-actor-musician then said that she and Gabriel Glenn are working on new music with their band, the Soundflowers, and getting ready to release the songs soon. “Gabriel and I have some new music we’re stoked to share with y’all!” she wrote. “Hope [your] new year started out with lots of love and light and all the things. I’ll be back soon!! xxox”
Earlier this week, several outlets, including People, reported via sources that Jackson was “[taking] some time off to reboot, realign, and prioritize her physical and emotional health,” and that she had checked herself into a treatment center to “aid in her wellness plan.”
Jackson has been vocal about her mental health and addiction struggles in the past. In a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone, she opened up about what she called her “self-hatred” and past suicide attempts, for which she attended a hospital residential therapy program.
All our best to Paris Jackson during the time off she needs.
