Serena Williams Is Married to Alexis Ohanian!
After weeks of rumors and speculation, GOAT tennis star Serena Williams and her tech exec fiance Alexis Ohanian said “I do” in a star-studded wedding at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans on Thursday, November 16.
According to People, celebrity guests included Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, Eva Longoria, and fellow tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.
Prior to the nuptials, on Wednesday night, the couple held their rehearsal dinner at Emeril Lagasse’s NOLA outpost Meril. According to Vanity Fair, the event was social-media free, as the bride and groom hoped for a private, intimate night. Colton Haynes and Tony winner Cynthia Erivo were among the rumored guests at the fete.
Rumors about the pair’s wedding started flying last month, when they were spotted out and about in NOLA, spending over an hour at Meril while the restaurant was closed.
After dating in secret for nearly a year and a half, the unlikely pair shared the news of their engagement on social media and on Ohanian’s website, Reddit. After whisking his love to Rome on a surprise trip, Ohanian proposed to the tennis legend at the very spot where they met by chance exactly one year earlier.
A few months later, after she won her 23rd Grand Slam singles title at the Australian Open, Williams accidentally revealed her pregnancy on Snapchat. She gave birth in September, welcoming a baby girl, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.
Williams, the reigning world champion in women’s tennis, is expected to start playing again in January 2018.
