These Are the Two Staples You Need for All of Your Back to College Outfits
Ah, back to school shopping. It’s a uniquely giddy feeling, isn’t it? There’s nothing like that September shopping trip to get you excited for the new school year and all the opportunities that lie ahead. So today, we’re teaming up with Walmart to show you how to rock two very necessary wardrobe staples all across campus. When you want one piece of clothing to go a long way, looking to basics is the oldest trick in the book. Both the NoBo U-Neck Elevated Tee and NoBo Juniors Knit Cami have got us saying #whoawaitwalmart — we’re seriously impressed with these two basics. Each top is super affordable and comes in tons of different colors, so you’ll get more bang for your buck — and have more money to spend on textbooks and pizza :)
Keep scrolling to see how we styled each shirt for every back to college occasion — from lecture hall to off-campus hangs and everything in between. First up, the classic and comfy cami.
Psst! Short on time? Use Walmart Pickup! It’s a great option to build each outfit online, order the goodies and then pick ’em up in store!
THE CLASSIC CAMI
One in every color, please! Of course, this staple is a great layering number, but it’s just as wearable on its own. Check out our three favorite ways to wear it below.
OFFICE INTERN #OOTD
Sure, it varies office to office, but the trick to nailing office attire around here is balancing formal, casual and fun pieces. Pair the cami with a midi skirt, textured tights and a pop of pattern for a quality work uniform. On colder days, toss on a blazer and call it a day!
Side note: We want a step-by-step guide on this amazing braid, stat. Tweet at us if you want our beauty editor to write a tutorial ;)
THE LECTURE LOOK
As a gal who has sat in many a lecture hall, take it from me: comfy clothes are VIP. The class will pass MUCH more quickly when clothes don’t get in the way. Layer the cami with an open sleeveless Oxford blouse, pants with a bit of stretch (we’re actually in love with these jeggings, which Irene pulls off better than anyone we’ve ever seen) and slip-on ballet flats for an easy breezy outfit.
Um, we also need to sing our praises about this reversible tote. It’s beautiful, crazy affordable and somehow goes with *every* outfit. Win, win, win.
GYM TIME
Here’s the most underrated perk of college: a free gym membership! Take advantage of the free campus facilities in style in some colorful workout wear. The cami is a go-to option for you gals who like form-fitting fitness apparel.
Psst — we’re secretly so happy that waist-tied sweaters are back in style. They’re just so dang convenient.
THE TRIED + TRUE U-NECK TEE
Onto the U-Neck tee of our dreams! This baby is crazy soft and flatters tons of different body types.
THE BRUNCH UNIFORM
Pair the U-Neck tee with a flirty skirt, tights and booties in a classic autumn color palette. Top it off with some personalized accessories — like this amazing headwrap our beauty editor made out of a swatch of fabric!
TBH, this outfit could be worn anywhere. To class, during Parent’s Weekend, out shopping — you name it. But your bestie brunch date will no doubt be Instagrammed, and this amazing DIY headwrap should *definitely* be photographed!
FOR THE FREAKIN’ WEEKEND
Our go-to weekend ‘fit? One that’s just as cozy as it is trendy. Layer a long cardigan over the U-Neck, toss on a pair of athleisure pants, grab your favorite hat and get relaxin’!
Pro tip: Toss on some statement jewelry to easily personalize and elevate the look.
DATE NIGHT DONE RIGHT
We’ve saved the best for last — this amazing date night ensemble! If you ask us, the ideal basic is one that is super flattering yet lets other pieces shine — and this one does exactly that. The pants take the main stage here, but that burgundy tee is most definitely a best-supporting actress :)
Bonus: Feeling adventurous? These pants can actually be worn a number of different ways. Try tying the base of the pants in a loose knot to switch it up. Genius!
There you have it! Two shirts, six looks and endless #OOTD possibilities. Happy back to school shopping, y’all!
