Although we could have predicted that the movie changed her career, we had no idea what an effect it had on Mandy鈥檚 beauty choices. When she took the role, Mandy, then 16 and a blonde, was most known for her pop-tastic songs like 鈥淐andy.鈥

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly the actress said, 鈥淚t was transformative because it came at a time in my life when I was only seen from the pop music landscape and through that lens. There was a real significance to coloring my hair.鈥 And, for the past 15 years, she has remained a brunette.

And it鈥檚 not just her saying this. In the interview, her co-star Shane West also commented on the hair transformation she made. 鈥淚 remember that Mandy was very nervous about dying her hair,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 amazing how it really changed her life 鈥 well the movie changed all of our lives 鈥 but hers especially, aesthetically.鈥
