Despite its struggles and out-of-control demands — like tracking down a nearly impossible-to-nab copy of a Harry Potter manuscript — many would deem Andy Sachs’s position in The Devil Wears Prada as the ideal dream job. And while fans of the fashion-based movie are occasionally charmed by mini reunions, we really just want to know when a second film will be in the works. Well, now news is out that the next Devil Wears Prada movie is on the way… but it’s not quite what you’re expecting.
Though not an exact remake or direct sequel, this new film is being described as The Devil Wears Prada meets Broadcast News and will focus on a veteran late-night talk show host (and her almost-out-of-her-league assistant?). With Mindy Kaling set to both write and star in the movie, a bidding war is expected to spark between production companies eager to jump on the project.
Also joining the cast will be multiple Oscar winner Emma Thompson, who we have to assume will be stepping into a Miranda Priestly-type role, which is pretty much perfect casting.
Since it’s been an entire decade (!!!) since we last saw the Devil wear Prada, it seems like the perfect time to whip out that stone-cold stylish vibe once again with a brand new movie.
