Even before the new Gilmore Girls reboot has hit Netflix, the show has us on an emotional rollercoaster. As if seeing Lorelai and Rory back at their old hijinks in the first Gilmore Girls trailer wasn’t enough to make us laugh AND cry, now the peeps behind the Stars Hollow stories are giving us conflicting reports on when we’ll have to say goodbye once and for all. With series star Lauren Graham previously hinting that the Gilmore Girls would most likely be wrapping up this time around, now the show creators are singing a different tune.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, while chatting about the show at Netflix’s TCA press tour last week, GG creator Amy Sherman-Palladino was asked about the possibility of even more episodes. Evading a direct answer, she also didn’t rule it out, saying, “[The reboot] is its own thing. This is what it is right now. We put these together, we told these stories and now we throw them out to the universe.”
TVLine’s Michael Ausiello was willing to put it more bluntly by tweeting, “AS-P not ruling out more episodes. #GilmoreGirls #TCA16.”
Fans were quick to respond with sentiments like “YEA!!!” and “best news I have heard in a long time” — so if Netflix is being cagey and waiting to see how folks will react to the reboot before ordering more episodes, it seems safe to say that it’s very likely we’ll be seeing even more from the Stars Hollow gang if the show is a hit.
