The weekend flew by at New York Fashion Week, but it was far from a blur. Saturday and Sunday were full of majorly memorable fashion moments, from the universally flattering red lipstick at Alexander Wang’s 10th anniversary show to (yet another) jaw-dropping performance at Opening Ceremony — truly, you’ll gasp when you see what these models did. Scroll through our Busy Girl Guide to NYFW to see all that and the rest of the best snaps from the fashion festivities so that you can oooh, ahhhh and get on with your jam-packed day.
1. Need-It-Now Look: Good news — there will be TONS of color in your work wardrobe come spring if Banana Republic has anything to do with it. Our favorite trend takeaway to amp up your nine-to-five look: Keep it in the (color) family, like wearing all pinks, corals and reds or blues, greens and chambrays. (Photo via @thecut)
2. DIY Hair Inspo: Sometimes a simple update is all you need to make a basic hairdo seem totally wow-worthy. Case in point: the twisted, slicked-back ponytails on the models at Public School. (Photo via @byrdiebeauty)
3. Next-Level Makeup: The makeup artists at Jason Wu cracked the code for a universally-flattering red lipstick shade, and we can’t peel our eyes away. Nylon reports that the trick was to combine two existing products — Maybelline’s Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid in Rebel Red with a rosey Berry Boost — to get that perfect velvety red hue. It looks like there’s a makeup DIY in everyone’s very near future. (Photo via @wowbeaute)
4. OMG Runway Moment: Leave it to the gang at Opening Ceremony to turn every supermodels’ nightmare — falling on the catwalk — into a dreamy choreographed dance. With help from world-renowned choreographer Justin Peck, who works for the New York City Ballet, the models’ “epic fails” — and their traditional runway march — were completely reinvented. Take a look for yourself and try not to flinch when the models simultaneously trip before they recover with sweeping arms and high kicks. (Photo via @eggcanvas, video via @themisshapes)
